Earth Leakage Protection Relays

A protection relay is a switch designed to trip and turn off a circuit in the event of unsafe conditions. Earth leakage relays are specifically designed to detect earth fault currents and trip when a pre-determined fault level is reached. Earth leakage protection relays perform the same function as earth leakage circuit breakers, though the terminology may vary depending on the specific location the relay or breaker is used.
